Windy Desert Retreat

While visiting the Fonts Point overlook we could see the wind storm building in the valley beyond the badlands. It didn’t seem like enough of a storm to really affect our plans to camp in the desert, but as we awoke in the morning we realized we weren’t going to be able to do much outside for a day or two. Since Marcy had some work to complete, and that wasn’t going to be possible with all four of us cooped up in the van, we decided to move to plan B.

We found a nice resort, negotiated an off-season rate, and moved our goodies into the protected confines of a hotel room.  This wasn’t just any hotel room, this one had a fireplace. I grabbed our marshmallow roasting paraphernalia and we settled into our latest campsite.

We ended up spending a couple of days in the resort, enjoying the restaurant, hot tub, shuffleboard, and even played a little croquet.
