I think Veteran’s Day is a very valuable holiday and want my kids to grow up understanding the importantance of service to one’s Country. I want them to care about something bigger than themselves and recognize and appreciate those individuals who have dedicated a portion of their lives to that service. I also want them know the difference between their Country and their government.
So today we headed to the USS Lexington, a World War 2 aircraft carrier, to immerse ourselves in history.
I love sharing a bit of my military background with the kids, and museums like this make a perfect opportunity to discuss many of my favorite topics. The kids fully enjoyed their time aboard The Lexington and it was a great follow up to our visit to the WWII museum in New Orleans.
